Treeline/Skyline

I'm interested in the relationship between landscape and perspective,
specifically, the landscape, or perceived landscape of one's youth,
and how that changes our understanding of our present condition.
This is particularly important because of the demographic shift
from rural to urban living that is occurring in Canada and around
the world at this time.

I always do work that is rooted in a personal context, but speaks to
a greater problem/concern/experience.  In this case, it's taken from a
singularly physical standpoint.  For several years now, I've been
trying to reconcile my rural past with my urban present.  There is an
itch for the smell of lakes and forest fecundity.  I constantly feel the
lack of damp moss squishing between bare toes, just as when I'm
home, the absence of people is stifling and overwhelming.  It's hard
to be balanced in either world; in both I am giving up something.
